Medieval Tourism and Medieval Warfare:
Possible Uses of the Outremer Map

The following series of lessons are meant to provide avenues into understanding the practical, conceptual, and ideological issues involved in the practice of cartography in general and of medieval cartography in particular. These lessons are grouped into “modules” that share a particular theme, and the sequences in which the lessons are presented are meant to lead students from the familiar to the foreign. Still, the lessons themselves are self-contained, and students can certainly engage with them selectively and out of sequence with fruitful results. Enjoy!
